Nationally Accredited Center

What is Corazon Accreditation?

Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber (CSSMCW) is proud that our Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) program has been accredited by Corazon, a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty based in Pittsburgh. A cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic tool to determine if a PCI is warranted. A PCI can involve balloon angioplasty and/or stent placement in a coronary artery to improve blood flow.

Through a rigorous process, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at CSSMCW has met and exceeded the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH). These requirements involve providing 24-hour coverage for PCI emergencies, undergoing detailed quarterly quality reviews, and ensuring outcomes and practices meet or exceed national standards.

What does accreditation mean to me?

This accreditation means that we have demonstrated that we are committed to providing the highest quality level of care to our patient community. Our dedication, hard work, and exceptional leadership has afforded this opportunity in engaging our entire hospital team, enhancing our cardiac service line, thus allowing us to excel through achieving this accreditation.
