What to Expect

Many people are unfamiliar with pelvic physical therapy and how the treatments may be of benefit for various pelvic related conditions. Your therapist understands this and will be familiar with your condition and how to best help you to meet your goals. You can feel at ease in our comforting treatment areas where we provide private and individualized one-on-one care. Together, you and your therapist will develop an appropriate plan of care that will empower you and provide you with skills to improve your pelvic health.

Initial Evaluation

Length: 60 minutes

On your first visit, you and your therapist will discuss your diagnosis, past medical history, current symptoms, concerns you may have, and how physical therapy can help.

Your therapist will assess the musculoskeletal system, analyze movement patterns, discuss postural alignment, and assess breathing patterns. Your therapist will explain how small changes in daily habits might have a big impact on improving your symptoms.

You will be given a treatment plan and additional information that will assist you in managing your pelvic symptoms at home beginning that day.

Subsequent Visits

Length: 60 minutesPelvic Physical Therapy

Most patients are seen 1-2 times per week depending on their diagnosis and rehabilitation goals.

After the evaluation, your therapist will work with you to carefully develop a plan of care specifically for your needs. We will focus on the pelvic floor muscles and on other parts of the body that influence and are influenced by this area.

We provide a variety of treatment options for pelvic dysfunctions including, but not limited to:

  • Manual therapy
  • Electrical stimulation
  • Biofeedback
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Postural and breathing analysis
  • Patient education
  • Home exercise programs
