Taunia Oechslin Girls Night Out Fundraiser Generated $92,898 for JMBCC

The ninth annual Taunia Oechslin Girls Night Out fundraiser held April 21 generated $92,898 — the largest total yet — for the Joyce Murtha Breast Cancer Center.

The fundraiser started as a small pay-it-forward project by Oechslin, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 36 and succumbed to the disease at 39. It was her goal that every woman be educated about breast cancer, understand the value of early detection and receive proper treatment.

Funds raised are used to ensure that the Joyce Murtha facility has cutting-edge equipment for detection and treatment of breast cancer. Free mammograms, genetic testing and other services to uninsured and underinsured women are provided through the Pink Ribbon Care Fund.
