Sherri Spinos Promoted to Vice President of Nursing

Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber is pleased to announce the promotion of Sherri Spinos, RN, BSN to Vice President of Nursing. This further expands her prior leadership role of Director and Nursing and Quality where she was responsible for management of the overall function of all nursing departments while ensuring quality patient care. In her new role, she will continue to oversee all the nursing departments and will also enhance standards of patient care and nursing practice through visionary nursing leadership.

CSSMCW President & CEO Tom Kurtz said, “Sherri has been a great asset to the hospital for many years in various positions. It’s great to see employees rise through the ranks, and I couldn’t be more pleased that she has taken on this new role. Sherri has shown time and again, especially this past year dealing with COVID-19, that she can make quick executive decisions under pressure. She makes a great addition to the senior leadership team.”

Spinos, who will soon graduate with her master’s degree in Health Administration, has extensive nursing experience in all areas and was a key member in the Clinical Documentation Program that yielded improvements in case mix and documentation. Spinos has held various positions at the hospital during her 26 years, including Director of Home Health and Director of Case Management for a number of years.

Spinos said, “While this year has been a difficult time for all, there is a great amount of positivity that has been created at CSSMCW. Our team has demonstrated true resilience, keeping our patients and community informed in light of the pandemic and utilizing our skills to expand our knowledge through the ever-evolving guidelines. I am proud to be a part of this patient-centered facility and to be part of our experienced senior leadership team.”
