1. What is your specialty?
I am a board-certified in emergency medicine.

2. Why did you want to become a physician?
I always knew I wanted a career in the science field, whether it entailed delving into research or pursuing medicine. Following a compelling yet solitary stint in research, I gravitated toward medicine primarily for the opportunity to connect with people each day. It was during my rotation at Windber’s Emergency Department as a medical student that I found my calling in emergency medicine.

3. What is one aspect of the job that you find rewarding?
I genuinely look forward to building meaningful connections with patients as we work together to understand their symptoms. Whether we celebrate a positive diagnosis or navigate through tough times, there’s a deep sense of empathy and connection. It’s about holding a family member’s hand, offering prayers, and assuring them of our steadfast presence. My goal is simply to make a positive difference in someone’s day, even if it’s just a small gesture.

4. In your opinion, what’s the future of your field?
In light of the challenges within our healthcare system and the ongoing struggle to secure and maintain primary care providers, the role of emergency medicine stands steadfast. Unlike certain specialties vulnerable to the encroachment of artificial intelligence (AI), the emergency medicine specialty is fortified by its clinical and procedural nature. While AI may revolutionize various fields, the dynamic and unpredictable nature of emergency medicine necessitates human expertise and judgment. Thus, our specialty remains indispensable in addressing urgent medical needs and ensuring optimal patient care.

5. What do you do to achieve work/life balance?
Beyond work, I make sure to carve out time for my family, especially enjoying moments with my kids. We love being outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping, or fishing.

Selection of a health care provider is a personal choice.
