1. What is your specialty?
I am a board certified AANP Family Nurse Practitioner. I have previously studied and practiced in Neurology, and I now have a focus in Orthopedics.
2. Why did you want to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)?
I absolutely LOVED my job as an ICU nurse, but I had always dreamt of being a provider; diagnosing and treating patients. From a young age, I felt the need to help make a difference, even if in the smallest sense of the word. I can now live out that dream and fulfill that need by doing exactly what I am doing here.
3. What is one aspect of the job that you find rewarding?
Helping people! It is very rewarding to see a patient back for a follow-up, either after an injury or providing guidance on living with arthritis, and hear that they are in less pain and have a better quality of life than they did at their first appointment.
4. In your opinion, what’s the future of your field?
Orthopedics has a very bright future, especially here at CSSWMC. As the Orthopedic Clinic plans to relocate in the coming months, this will allow us even greater opportunities for growth and development.
5. What do you do to achieve work/life balance?
I am fortunate to have a great support system at home, and a great team at the clinic. This allows me to enjoy my time both at work and at home. In my free time, my husband, one-year-old son, and two dogs provide me with lots of love and laughs!
