Windber Home Health & Windber Hospice Earn 2025 SHPBest Awards

Windber Home Health and Windber Hospice have once again earned national recognition from Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) for excellence in patient, caregiver and family experience.

Windber Home Health has been recognized as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall patient experience score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2025 calendar year. Windber Hospice has been recognized as a “Superior Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family experience score that ranked in the top 20% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2025 calendar year.

The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge home health agencies that consistently provide high quality service to their patients and hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2025 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking experience scores for more than 3,200 home health providers and more than 1,800 hospice providers nationwide.

Home Health results are based on the HHCAHPS (Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey, while Hospice results are based on the CAHPS Hospice survey. With some of the largest benchmarks in the nation, SHP is uniquely positioned to identify and recognize organizations that have made patient, family and caregiver experience a priority.

“Providing excellent patient care takes relentless effort, and our SHPBest award winners embody that every year. This program lets us recognize the organizations that never settle, that keep improving the patient and caregiver experience even when they’re already performing at a high level. That kind of commitment deserves to be celebrated,” said Jason Ballet, President of SHP.

For Windber Home Health, the 2025 award marks the sixth time the agency has earned national recognition through the SHPBest™ program and the fifth time it has achieved Premier Performer status.

For Windber Hospice, this marks the fourth time the program has earned SHPBest™ recognition for excellence in caregiver and family experience.

“Our Home Health and Hospice teams are incredibly honored to once again be recognized through the experiences of the patients and families we serve,” said Ginger Taylor, RN, Director of Home Health and Hospice. “To see Home Health recognized among the top 5% in the nation and Hospice among the top 20% is a reflection of the compassion and dedication our staff brings to every patient and family. I’m extremely proud of both teams and their continued commitment to providing exceptional care throughout our community.”
