Panera Bread Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Pink Ribbon Bagels

Panera Bread is joining the fight against breast cancer by baking its signature Pink Ribbon Bagels.

This October, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold in the participating Johnstown and Altoona, PA area Panera Bread bakery-cafes will be donated to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center at Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber. Additionally, on Friday, October 6th, 100 percent of the net proceeds from the sale of the Pink Ribbon Bagels will be donated to the organization.

“The Windber Healthcare Foundation is honored to continue our ongoing partnership with Panera Bread,” commented Kim Oleksa, Foundation Coordinator at Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber. “Together we have raised more than $40,000 in the last eight years for the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center and our Pediatric Therapy department through Pink Ribbon Bagel sales and other campaigns. We thank everyone for their continued support.”

Shaped in the form of the iconic pink ribbon, Pink Ribbon Bagels feature cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey, and brown sugar. They are baked fresh early each morning by Paner’s bakers at each bakery-cafe.

In addition to the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales, Panera Bread also supports Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber through donation collection canisters placed at the registers of the participating Johnstown and Altoona area bakery-cafes.
