CSSMCW Announces Director of Nursing and Director of Surgical Services

Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber (CSSMCW) is pleased to announce that Sherri Spinos, RN, BSN (pictured, left) has been promoted to the Director of Nursing and Quality and that George Napora RN, BSN (pictured, right) has been hired to fill the position of Director of Surgical Services.

As Director of Nursing and Quality, Spinos is responsible for management of the overall function of all nursing departments while ensuring quality patient care. She has extensive nursing experience in all areas and was a key member in the Clinical Documentation Program that yielded improvements in case mix and documentation. Spinos has held various positions at CSSMCW, most recently as Director of Home Care Services and she has been part of the CSSMCW team for 26 years.

Spinos said, “I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity. I have a great team of nurses and directors to work with and will continue to expand my knowledge from the experienced Senior Leadership Team that we have in place. We are very proud of all our accomplishments over the years and will continue to strive for great quality care and customer service for our surrounding communities.”

As Director of Surgical Services, Napora will oversee the responsibilities of the Operating Room and Ambulatory Services Unit, including staffing, scheduling, and overall operations of the surgical line. Previously, he held multiple roles in the operating room environment, including five years as a Circulator, five years as a Charge Nurse, and six years as a Nurse Manager.

Napora said, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the team at CSSMCW. It was a pleasant surprise to see the state-of-the-art procedures that are offered here, and I hope to see other surgeries added to the already extensive list. It is wonderful that the community has the opportunity to have top quality surgery locally, and not have to leave the area or go to a larger facility. ”
