Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber Welcomes Board Certified Surgeon to its Medical Staff

Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber (Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber) recently announced the addition of Taesun Moon, D.O., a bariatric and general surgeon, to its Medical Staff. WMC provides new surgical services with the addition of Dr. Moon.

Dr. Moon brings additional minimally-invasive surgical options to patients at WMC. He performs laparoscopic bariatric and other procedures of the abdomen and pelvis, including but not limited to hiatal and inguinal hernia repairs, as well as colon, spleen and kidney procedures.

Dr. Moon has been performing laparoscopic general and bariatric surgery since graduating from his Bariatric and Laparoscopic Fellowship in 2006. He has performed over 500 bariatric surgical procedures. These procedures include the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, which reduces the size of the stomach by creating a pouch; gastric sleeve, which involves removal of a large portion of the stomach; and lap-band surgery, which involves the placement of a device around the upper part of the stomach. Dr. Moon has interest in innovations and advancements in the field of surgery, and he continues to expand his medical knowledge by adding procedures and education of new techniques to his practice.

Dr. Moon graduated with a degree from Cornell University, where he completed his General Surgery residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center – an affiliate of Cornell Medical Center. He further refined his laparoscopic and bariatric skills at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg. He is board certified in general surgery.

Dr. Moon uses minimally-invasive techniques for weight loss surgery. Located at 600 Somerset Avenue in Windber, is accepting new patients.
