Wonder why? Here are some things that our patients are saying about
us!
On Admission:
"Very
cheerful."
"ER
doctor was excellent! Possibly saved my life - many thanks to
him and staff!"
On our Rooms:
"The
room was very warm, but the night nurse got me a fan."
"Please
inform the cleaning staff they did an excellent job."
On our Meals:
"Pam
(Dietician) was excellent and provided alternate food."
"Woman
taking food orders was very polite as well as staff delivering
food. Food was excellent."
On our Physicians and Nursing Staff:
"Dr.
Kulkarni did and excellent job! Very pleased with his caring
attitude!"
"All
physicians that treated me during my stay were excellent
professionals!"
"The
nurses on the maternity floor are absolute angels! They are so
wonderful!"
"Absolutely excellent. I could not have asked for any better
care. It made a painful situation manageable."
"A close friend, who is having significant medical challenges,
had an MRI done a few days ago at the JMBCC. After the test, she
was given hot bread with butter and jelly. The simple offer of
that gesture and the caring attitude of the staff was so
meaningful to my friend it was unbelievable. Those simple acts
of caring mean so much to people facing medical challenges that
it helps brighten up their day for even a little while. Thank
you from the bottom of my heart that you made my friend feel
special and well cared for. "
"I was a patient in Windber Medical Center in April and was very
pleased and extremely happy of all the nice nurses and doctors
there. Let's just say it is not my last visit to Windber Medical
Center and it is my first choice from now on. "
"We wanted to let all of you
know what grateful hearts we have for the wonderful care that
you gave to our husband and father these last few months. The
first time meeting with Barbra and Diane was calming for my mom
and I. Diane and Melanie, thank you from the bottom of our
hearts for the wonderful care that you gave to him. Diane, thank
you for all of your phone calls to me each week to let me know
how my dad was doing. Thank you for all of your nursing care and
the love that you showed my dad. He was so lucky to have you
there watching over him and seeing to it that he was comfortable
and not having pain or discomfort. I also wanted to thank the
volunteers and the chaplain that came to my dad's room to
comfort us and support us as we said goodbye to our wonderful
husband and father. Thank you so much Debbie Leach who came to
the funeral home to see that we were okay and offered wonderful
words of comfort and encouragement about the days and weeks
ahead and that the hospice would still be with us. It is
difficult to find the right words to thank all of you, but we
know that he says thank you as well. He was blessed to have
Diane and Melanie there for him. "
"We the family of a former patient, would like to take this
opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your
wonderful care and concern during her emergency room visit,
following her stroke in August. What we witnessed during her
visit was unbelievable. The entire staff was found to be a very,
very caring and understanding staff, going above and beyond
their duties at all times. A very special thank you to Dr.
Prakash Phulwani for taking the time to explain the situation to
us and for helping us to make the right decisions that needed to
be made that day and for being so patient with is as we did so.
He was so very kind as was the entire staff who cares so deeply
for the patient, and for us as her family. You will never know
how much it meant to all of us to see the kindness shown to her
while in your care. Thank you and may God bless each and every
one of you for the work that you do. Thanks again and please
keep up the good work. "
"We walked into the respiratory department at Windber Medical
Center in hopes of finding a pulmonary doctor for my husband on
Monday. Our real hope was to actually have that doctor X-ray him
and diagnose his cough that hadn't responded to penicillin. We
were successful, but only because we came upon an angel named
Stacey, who made it happen. You could have easily said you
couldn't help, or that you were busy (which you were), or that
you would have to redirect us. But no, your compassionate heart
and professionalism caused you to pick up the phone and you
continued dialing until you made the impossible happen and both
my husband and I are eternally grateful that we found you when
we had given up all hope. Thank you seems so trite, but it is
most sincere. May the Lord ever richly bless you for your
goodness and kindness.
I wanted to say a big thank you to Dr. Sarma and staff for the
wonderful care that I Received during my appointment. It
certainly meant a great deal to me to get an appointment in less
than 24 hours, and then to get a painful problem corrected in a
matter of minutes without the need for a second visit!
Another satisfied patient.
"
On our Testing and Treatments:
"Everything was explained before and after my surgery. I was
glad to know what to expect."
"The
entire staff from the ER to CCU was excellent. You could see and
feel the compassion and concern from each person."
"Two
top notch male technicians that started my IV and gave me the CT
scan that detected my blood clots in my lungs... hats off!"
On our Visiting Hours and Family:
"Kept
husband updated during and after surgery."
"Everyone visiting me was treated well."
On Discharge:
"Nurses
are excellent going over At Home Care for me and baby."
"Asked
for diet guides for home - was told they were with paperwork...
none given. My wife called hospital dietician and was sent some
information the next day."
On the Critical Care Unit Care:
My
father was admitted to the CCU on July 2, 2011. While there,
Joshua Milhalko was one of his nurses. He was the most
compassionate nurse and was very professional, but has a heart
for his patients and their families. Our mother stayed with our
father throughout his entire stay. Joshua showed such kindness
and concern for her well being as well, knowing she was
concerned and scared about our fathers heart issues. He answered
any questions we had and always made our family as comfortable
as possible. It's nice to know there are people who do their
lobs well, but they also have a true love for what they do.
Words can never express our gratitude for Joshua and all he did
for our family.
A satisfied patient.
On the Hospice and Palliative Care:
Let me
take a moment to express how thankful we are that we had Windber
Hospice for our mother's end of life care. Every moment she
encountered was awesome care combined with love and respect.
She, who could be very careful, cautious and discerning, never
doubted you. When she spent time in the PCU, she actually liked
it. You allowed her freedom to be herself and to also be cared
for. I admire all the nursing staff who could be that
professional and also flexible. And cookie baking! You were
awesome! Our care at home was always complete-with expertise,
with every question answered and every issue addressed. We have
to love all the home nurses that visited us. I have such respect
for you, and we consider you to be our friends, and so did she.
She was very intone with new ways of healing and Dr. Warshel was
sent by God to be her doctor. She was so energized by any new
approach and so open to the alternatives that in many places
would have never been suggested. She and Dr. Warshel were on the
same wavelength from day one. With music being such a big part
of our family, Rachel Allen's gifts were just perfect. She took
time for my mother to calm herself and also allowed the spirit
to work within her. She felt that spirit at work and embraced
Rachel's music and words. The two of them will always have a
special bond. I will miss all of you. You provided healing and
care for this whole family. We really love all of you who were
her caregivers. I hope we have the opportunity to support your
work in the future. The book does not close. We just turn the
page to begin a new chapter. We are so pleased to have all of
you in this family's story.
God Bless, A grateful WMC family.
On VeteranCare
"Thank
you very much for the veteran pin and the coupons for the
Windber Medical Center Cafe. And thank you and the VeteranCare
Committee for recognizing the veterans of this area. I never got
a lot of recognition for being a veteran, so this makes me feel
very special. I think Windber Medical Center is the best
hospital in this area and feel very proud that I worked there
from 1970 to 1975, and have used the facilities many times over
the years. Keep up the good work! Thanks again. I appreciate
your thoughtfulness."
On our Overall Assessment:
"I have
no complaints. Everybody was fantastic. Respiratory and Lab,
also. If I could, I would pat them all on the back and give them
a raise. Pete Bartholomusse is excellent; saved my life."
"I am
so very pleased with my care and experience at Windber! I tell
everyone I can! Thank you so much!"
"No one
likes a hospital stay, but if they were as good as mine, most
people would accept it and be thankful to those administrating
the care given. I know I am!"
"I wanted to write you a short note
to let you know what a wonderful ER you have. I worked 16 years
up north in an ER and never can I remember it being such a
wonderful place such as yours. Professionalism is the key to
this from check in to sign out. They make you feel like a person
NOT a number. Right now I live in Johnstown and refuse to go
there for treatment of any kind. Your doctors and nurses are the
best I have ever come across. You should be proud of each and
every one of them. I will never go to our local hospital here.
Thank you so much for giving the public such a nice place to go.
The doctors are SO competent and honest; and the nurses, sheer
perfection. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate
all of them. God bless. A satisfied WMC patient".
We the family of the patient and the
patient herself would like to take this opportunity to thank
each and every one of you for your wonderful care and concern
during her hospital stay in the Critical Care Unit, following
her stroke in August. What we witnessed during her stay was
unbelievable. The entire staff and we mean entire staff was
found to be a very, very caring and understanding staff; going
above and beyond their duties at all times. A very special thank
you to Barb, along with Holly, Josh, Chris and all the staff
included who cared so deeply for the patient, and for us as the
family to her. You will never know how much it meant to all of
us to see the kindness shown to her while in your care. We are
sure that you have heard the words thank you so many times, but
we want you to know that when you hear it this time from all of
us, it truly has meaning and it is truly coming from the bottom
of all of our hearts. So thank you and may God bless each and
every one of you for the work that you do. A satisfied WMC
family.
