CSSMCW Welcomes New Breast Surgeon, Dr. Trudi Brown

Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber (CSSMCW) is pleased to welcome Trudi Brown, MD, FACS, who will see patients at the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center (JMBCC) beginning in October. She comes to the JMBCC with 28 years of surgical experience and specializes in the treatment of breast disease.

“There’s so much to be said about the work being done at the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. I’m excited to be a part of it, and I really look forward to helping the people in the community,” said Dr. Brown.

Dr. Brown received her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia and completed general surgery residency at Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, as well as the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

In Ohio, she was employed at University Hospital’s Parma Medical Center and there developed an interest and specialization in the treatment of both benign and malignant breast disease. While at Parma, she served as the Division Director of General Surgery for the last 10 years and was an active member of the Cancer Committee at The Seidman Cancer Center.

Dr. Brown specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant breast diseases. She also performs stereotactic and ultrasound guided core biopsies as well as lumpectomy, mastectomy, nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery, and sentinel lymph node biopsy.

She and her husband recently moved to the Johnstown area. She looks forward to being nearer to family who reside in Morgantown, WV. She is an avid football fan, and enjoys walking her dogs, horseback riding and Middle Eastern dance.
