On November 3, the Windber Health Care Foundation Auxiliary held the 2nd Annual Showcase Chefs event at the Windber Community Building. Local chefs handed out samples of their dishes to more than 175 attendees, who then were asked to “tip” their favorites. The event was a huge success, raising more than $5,000 for hospital projects and equipment at the Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of our volunteers, attendees, sponsors, and, of course, the local chefs! Flair of Country Catering and Event Planning received the most “tips” for the evening. Our second and third place chefs were The Gob Father - Jim Mayes and Bella Sicilia, respectively. Congratulations and thank you to all!” said Kim Oleksa Foundations/Development Coordinator.

Other participating businesses were, Kaiser Embroidery Plus, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Carlyn’s Restaurant, Our Sons Restaurant, GJCTC Culinary Program, Coal Miner’s Cafe, My Girls Deli & Catering, O’Shea’s Candies, Asiago’s Italian Restaurant, Ace’s Banquets and Catering, Quaker Steak and Lube, Geoffrey’s Restaurant, Graystone Homestyle Restaurant, Mimo’s Pizza & Restaurant, Rizzo’s Restaurant, Anthony’s Restaurant, American Legion Post #137, Fruity Petals, The Crow’s Nest, Whitehorse Brewing LLC, Glades Pike Winery, and B&L Wine Cellars.
